Does anyone set up routes using work center's from multiple branch plants?

We have a business that wants to set up work order routes using work center's from multiple branch plants.  The plants are physically located in close proximity. We are trying to define when this is acceptable and when it is not.

If anyone follows a similar process do you mind sharing your definition?
