How to override Depreciation Calculation

Hello All,

I need some help with overriding the depreciation calculation.

Our requirement is that we want to load the assets (from legacy system) in to Oracle along with the accumulated and Year to date depreciations, for the first time.

The reason for this is that our Legacy system is calculating the depreciation in different periods that what we have in Oracle. Hence we would like to load the assets with the available values and calculate the depreciation in Oracle going forward for the remaining life of Assets.

I understood that we can Override the Depreciation Calculation by setting up a profile option. But I'm not sure whether we will be able to calculate the depreciation for the remaining life of the asset(s).
