How to link tables, ap_invoices_all and iby_payments_all in r12?

Hello there,

It is kind of strange that it seems very difficult to link two AP important tables, ap_invoices_all and iby_payments_all.  In the past (11i), it is not that difficult at all, but in R12, it seems quite different.  So I felt it shouldn't be that way and I must have missed some obvious thing somewhere.  Please advise how to link those two tables.
