Why is there different patches applied using cpa (patch_check_advanced perl script) over 10_Recommen

There seem to be a disconnect between pca (patch_check_advanced perl script) and the 10_x86_Recommended.zip and 10_Recommended.zip. pca brings down additional patches not in the 10_x86_Recommended.zip and 10_Recommended.zip. Which method is the "Gold/Recommended" standard for patching Solaris 10 and why is there a difference?
