Is it OK to change the Allow Adjs flag on an existing entity in HFM?

As above, just wondering if it's OK to change the Allow Adjs flag on an existing entity in HFM. 

I'm assuming that if there are already journals posted to that entity then the system would not allow the change,  but what about if there aren't any journals?  Are there any other considerations?

I know that for HFM it sometimes isn't a good idea to change metadata settings for live metadata members, but I'm not sure now which settings can cause problems.
