Is it possible to mask employee information when using the Payroll to Projects interface?

We would like to interface project costs directly from Payroll and currently do so using a very manual, labour intensive process.  The issue we have is that we cannot display employee information in the Projects module as it is sensitive data.  Can anyone advise on how we might go about using standard functionality to remove the current manual process?
