Configurator component status advance on SO

We are printing configured component on SO using AIR P Rules with Write Detail LIne and Print Detail = 1 on both Sales Order and Work Order.  We are in 9.1.  In older versions of JDE the Sales/Config tab on R31410 allowed overriding line type and next status, but more recent versions have changed so this only works on kits and not configured child items.

The line type for the component is S, this is an item that also gets sold directly to customers.  The SO03 is getting set to prevent issuing the item from the sales order, the child item isn't getting a shipment number or being relieved from inventory - all correct.  However, the next status on the child line never gets advanced past the print acknowledgement.  So when invoicing is completed and the parent line closes the child line looks like it is still open.  How do you get the child line status to advance to closed?
