Tagging Journal Entries with additional information

We are currently on 8.10

We are upgrading to 9.2 next year, starting the prep work now.

Is there a feature (or new module??) available that would allow us to tag journal entries with additional information that could ultimately be picked up by our BI tool for further analysis?

Here is a simplistic example:

We do a JE to accrue expense for a promotional expense, and currently "tag" the customer number in the subledger.

Would there be a feature where we could tag these further with, say, a product line code, a SKU or something like that?

Maybe what I'm asking is: Is there Supplemental Data available (for set up) for journal entries?
