'assets' not owned by the business

Is it possible to add 'assets' and flag that they do not belong to the business?  These assets would not have a cost but be considered perhaps as children of the 'owned' asset.  We would like to 'bill' these non owned assets on a recurring basis for being associated with the 'parent'.   Any suggestions?
