Awarding event

We have a user whom awarded a sourcing event to supplier1 incorrectly. This was the only supplier invited to the event. After event was posted of course, in the same round/version, this user added supplier2 and attempted to award to supplier2. As expected, buffer errors messaged would stop the award due to the orphanage in the data. Is there not a hard-stop on this? or fix/workaround?
