Relationship between Oracle Assets and iAssets

Hello!

I'm trying to understand the relationship between Oracle Assets and iAssets.  It seems as though the primary functionality of iAssets is to allow for easy querying of the asset tables, and to request/approve self-initiated transfers of assets.  Does all other functionality reside in Oracle Assets (i.e., depreciation, mass retirements, etc.)?  Do the main tables reside in Oracle Assets, which iAssets then accesses for querying or updates when transfers are approved?
