Quick pay is for a period that is perviously closed

We had a situation where a person was paid retro when they should have been.  Our payroll person, did a reversal for that employee and did a quick pay for the corrected amount.  She costed and transferred these items to the General Ledger (GL).  The GL did not pick up the quick pay because it fell in a period that was already closed and we don't reopen period.  Do you have any advice on how to handle situations like this in the future?  She we do the quick pay (correction) for the current pay period?
