Missed the lookup on an input value - Can I add it somehow?

A pre-tax medical deduction element was created and input values entered and saved. Now I see that the lookup value (US_BENEFIT_COVERAGE) should have been entered on the Coverage input value. The element has not been linked or therefore used yet. Is there a way to add this or do I have to create another element? Many thanks to anyone who can offer their advice.
