ORA OLE DB Provider from Excel issues problematic SQL

Hello All

When connecting to Oracle from Excel via the Ora OLE DB provider (as implemented in client 12.1.0.2) the following SQL is issued. I find the SQL to be taking far too long to execute, The SQL finds a list of tables and views to present to the user to choose from.

Is there a way to configure (e.g. by changing a key in the registry) whether to issue this SQL at all? Or is there any way to influence the SQL used. 

I am not sure this is the relevant subspace to ask this question, som please advise otherwise, if thats the case.
