Can we turn off the flag 'allow negative balances' in the inventory organization set up

We have our Oracle EBS system running.All our items are serialized.But for some reason the flag 'allowing negative balance'  is turned on.Ideally our current setup will not allow negative balances as we always need serial no to transact.

We want to introduce new items which will be non serialized and do not want a situation  where the on hand goes negative.

So I am checking can we turn off the 'allow negative balance' flag.

When I am trying that in a test instance system is giving me a warning to check if any of the sub inventory hs negative balance.I have checked none of our sub inventory has negative balances as of today as we have all our items as serialized.
