What does the field Ending Date/Time do in a case? Field END in form W90CG501

We expect that this field is updated when we close the case. If not, where can we find a "close" date?

Similar situation is in the tasks added, when we close those task the End date is automatically filled with today's date. So our expectation is that a similar situation can be used in the case itself.
