RMan Catalog Generates Lots of Redo Log / Archive Switching & ROUT table and dbms_backup_restore.res

We've noticed on our RMan Catalog DB (12.1.0.2) a remarkable increase in the number of redo log / archive log generation in the past month.  There have been no additional databases added over the past month and no remarkable increase in target database activity.  While running an archive backup against 6 Target Databases (RAC 2 node, 12.1.0.2) we see a high level of insert/delete activity on the redo logs generated on the catalog DB.  One table in particular on the RMan catalog "ROUT" (that's the RMan output table) indicates 2,088,932 DELETE and 2,105,679 INSERT.  That seems like a great deal
