Why is Toad for Oracle execution time so different to BI Publisher run time?

Hi,

I want to ask

  1. what reasons there might be why SQL code that executes in around a minute and a half in Toad for Oracle (12.8) takes 50 minutes to run to completion in BI Publisher?
  2. The code runs in Toad for Oracle in 1 min. 25 sec. and then when cached in 15 sec.
  3. The same code embedded in a data template and then run in BI Publisher takes a whopping 50 min. and can only be run in the Scheduler as the web front end times out long before the report displays.
  4. My client is running a JDE Edwards installation of Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1 (no, it is not feasible to upgrade – we’ve been down that path already) with Oracle 11g at the back end.
