Annual Close Process for Branch Plants (separate retained earnings for each Branch Plant) under one Company Entity.

We have several branch plants under one company (legal entity). The users would like to treat these Branch Plants as a separate legal entity (separate Balance Sheet and PL) without setting up a company for each Branch Plant. The Users would like to run the annual close program for each Branch Plant to record the retained earnings for each one Branch Plant.

Has anybody setup and run the annual close for business units (branch plants)  to book Business Unit (Branch Plant) retained earnings?
