Need strategy to upgrade 11g RAC in ODA to 12c RAC in the same ODA but keeping the same SID

Hi,

Can you help with an upgrade strategy we are looking into?

Upgrade 11g RAC DB in ODA to 12c RAC DB in the same ODA  but keeping the same SIDs but different Oracle Homes. We are looking into keeping both DBs for a while for performance testing before letting go of the old one. Would like to know if this is possible and are there documentations for this type of upgrade?
