Excel treats a currency cell as text and throws a green triangle on top left corner of the cell indi

Hi

I have a rtf template in MS word 2010 that shows output in the excel(.xlsx) format. When I see the output in excel, it treats the currency cell as text and shows the green triangle indicating "Number stored as text" . The template uses XML as data source. Also, when I try to use sum formula on the excel to add two currency numbers, It gives sum as zero.  Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Im using PT 8.55 and BI publisher 11.1.1.9.0.
