Deleting extension columns on table

Hello all,

We recently were looking at doing a large project, so we did a POC in the development environment that involved adding a couple of columns on a table.  We have now decided not to do that project, so we are facing with what to do with the additional columns.  Additionally there is now test data in those columns.  I understand that if we were to inactivate the columns in tools, and activate and move on, the columns and data will still not be removed from the physical database in development.

Since the project was never completed, the columns are not in production.  If we were to need to add a column at a later date and then move it to production those columns would go with the move.  However those columns would be inactive and not actually on the production physical database. The usual would be that both environments stay the same, but if we can't ever delete the actual columns, now what?

Howdy, Stranger!
