Why is UIM 7.3.X not backward compatible with or certified against OSM 7.2.4.X?

The business is currently having the following Oracle Communication Suite applications in their environment stack:

1. Siebel CRM

2. OSM 7.2.4.2.0

3. UIM 7.1.2

4. AIA 11.6

5. BRM

We have plans to upgrade UIM to latest version but need help in making an informed decision as to which UIM version that we should go for. 7.2.5 or 7.3.X?

Need to understand what makes UIM 7.3.X in-compatible with OSM 7.3.X? Apart from obvious difference between Application Server platforms i.e. OSM is on WebLogic 10.3.6 and UIM 7.3.runs of Weblogic 12c , which other factors can prevent UIM 7.3.X to not work with OSM 7.2.X?
