Intercompany and intercompany

Hi,

The setup options in accounting setup manager we can give intercompany and intracompany accounts.

What is the use of AGIS then?

I understand that when ever we have journals that are accross Ledgers we will need AGIS ,however what is the use of AGIS when we have intercompany and intracompany transaction within a ledger?
