Using the ID Delete function when EMPLID contains trailing space

We have an EMPLID that contains trailing spaces (actually tabs and a space).  The Delete ID function in Set Up SACR and Set Up HCM does not recognize this EMPLID and returns the Invalid Value error.  Is there a workaround to delete an invalid EMPLID containing spaces?
