DataGuard between two Clusters

edited Sep 15, 2016 5:00AM in Database - RAC/Scalability (MOSC) 3 commentsAnswered

We currently have two 12c RAC databases one for production and one for UAT, with two nodes each. The client is interested in putting a standby instance for the production database in the UAT cluster to minimize their production application down time when we are patching production with a non-rolling patche.

My question: Can the UAT cluster host two instances? If so can the Data Guard standby instance also be a two-node RAC instance or should it be a RAC One instance? Can that instance use the same ASM Disk Groups currently used by the UAT RAC or should it use it's own.

Howdy, Stranger!
