Siebel - Increase the length of Column in Siebel table

Hi,

Im trying to increase the length of a column under S_SRV_REQ table, in order to increase the field size in a BC.

But, when i try to edit the column length of the table its read only and cant be changed even after checking out the object from the server.

I heard from many blogs, that Siebel base tables - columns cannot be modified !

Is that true ? If thats the case, how can we implement this enhancement to increase the column size of this table.

Can you someone please share your expertise on this?
