emcli update_db_password issues with special characters in password

Hello,

I'm trying to update hundreds of "oracle_database" targets in our 12c Cloud Control using 'emcli update_db_password' command verb.  The 'dbsnmp' account has been changed in all the target databases, now I need to update the target properties in Cloud control for the "monitoring user" - dbsnmp.  I can do that through the console, but that is very tedious and inefficient.  I would like to use "emcli argfile" to accomplish this in more of a batch mode.  So far I've been unsuccessful in making the change.  I've tried everything to escape the special characters, but so far nothing has worked.  I've
