Deacticating an Inventory Org and its Org Items

Hello, We are interested in deactivating an Inventory Org and its Org Items.  We have already transferred Inventory and Cost out of the Org.  But, to deactivate the Inventory Org and its Items, does deactivating the Org automatically deactivate its Org Items, or do Items need to be Deactivated at the Org Item Level before deactivating the Org itself?  Please explain the recommended steps to properly accomplish the full deactivation.  Thank you for you help.
