Is there a way to put a period back into a "Pending" status

Our business has created 2 years of period for testing and opened them all.  The kicker is that they also loaded live profiles to the periods so folks are getting late recon notices when they shouldn't.  Going to assume that when the period opens the e-mails start but if the period is in pending no e-mails.  Can we put the period back into pending?
