Oracle 11.2.0.4 on IBM AIX on POWER systems physical standby SOLARIS SPARC

We have a Oracle 11.2.0.4 on IBM AIX on POWER systems  and need to create a physical standby for it but the standby server is SOLARIS SPARC. I see that this combinations works with some pain based on Note 413484.1. What are the complexities with these combination. Any experience shared will be highly appreciated. Also please share if you do not recommend this approach and the reason behind it.
