Upgrade snapshot standby database from 11.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.4 version

Hi All,
I have a DG setup in Max performance mode like
DB-A --> Primary
DB-B --> Physical Standby
DB-C --> Physical Standby
DB-D --> Snapshot Standby.
Now we are planning to upgrade this setup to 11.2.0.4 version. My question is, is it mandatory to convert snatshot standby database to physical standby database before upgrading primary database. (or) Can we simply stop snapshot standby database, point it to nelwy installed 11.2.0.4 binaries and start (will it allow to start it at first place) it back post primary upgrade? whenever it is scheduled to convert will that pick those changes?
