Change GL Period End date for Future/ Open period

In our current calendar Oct-16 period ends on 31-Oct-2016 and Nov-16 starts on 01-Nov-2016.

We want to change End date for Oct-16 period to 15-Nov-2016 and start date of Nov-16 period to 16-Nov-2016. Oct-16 period is in Open status. Has anyone done this?
