Can we use the "Update Inventory Quantity" functionality when using Supplier Specification Validity

We created PO for an item which required inspection. We wanted to inspect the item using Oracle Quality. But when we create a sample for this item using Specification with  Supplier Validity Rules and "Update Inventory Quantity" is flag, errors occurs as "All required fields are not available to decrease the sample quantity from inventory. Please check the entries for parent lot, lot, receipt and receipt line to ensure that the necessary fields are entered.
