MFS Laptop 12.1.3 Note Character Limit

There appears to be a note character limit in MFS Laptop 12.1.3 where the max allowed for notes is 2,000 characters. The problem is that the user does not see any error or message alerting them to the problem. The 11i version of MFS Laptop allowed far more characters for notes. Is there a profile option where this can be changed? Why doesn't the application show an error message to alert the user?
