Availability in Material Workbench Not Reflecting Material Reservation

Have an item with a quantity on hand of 9.  The material workbench shows 9 on hand and an availability of 9. The Item supply/demand form shows an availability of 8...reason being because there is a reservation of 1 tied to a sales order. Why would the material workbench not show the availability of 8?
