Diference between Invoice Interface - Line subprocess with the Header Level Invoice Interface - Line

How in a business flow does this make a difference. I would like to understand the business process wise benefit between a line having  Invoice Interface - Line subprocess and a line with the Header Level Invoice Interface - Line, Deferred.

There are two line types: With header invoicing and without header invoicing in shipping and return lines. How are they helpful practically?
