outcome of I/O calibration ?

It is advised to use DBMS_RESOURCE_MANAGER.CALIBRATE_IO  to  calibrate database I/O.

How to use this procedure is pretty clear in oracle documentation but what parameter changes or other modification this procedure will make to the database after execution is not mentioned!

Any documentation or resources about what changes this procedure make after execution will be appreciated.
