Split Mass Addition Creates Three Assets

Hi All-

Revising a previously-posted thread.

Our user split a mass addition line and reports that when she did so, it yielded three lines- two newly split lines in ON HOLD status and the original line in SPLIT status. The problem is that she ran Post Mass Additions and all three lines became assets. So we're overstated. The user's guide gives an illustration of this process and states that the split line "cannot become an asset." Yet in this case it did.

Any ideas how that could happen or where I could look to get more info? I ran an asset trace on both the parent and child assets but didn't notice anything helpful.
