Need help with a custom report

Can someone share with me steps to create a custom report where I can track the owner of a lead through passing from inside sales to sales?  I have inside sales as a lead source (so I can pull on their opportunity reports) but my boss wants to pull a report that shows how the lead when through the sales stages.
