Oracle ACFS file system mounted from ASM storage

Hi,

I'm on Exadata machine X4-2 with 12C GI/Oracle home. One mount point is mounted as /backup(just like a normal file system) of 1TB and its' using +DATA asm mount. In current situation DBAs are using backup on this /backup for RMAN backup. Is this a good choice for RMAN backup on Exadata machine? How big could be /backup mount I can use on Exadata machine?

What is the best practices to have backup on Exadata?
