Validate Asynchronous Support on RHEL 6 x86_64

We are about to start tuning more our instances and we have realized that we do no have the DBIO_EXPECTED Parameter setup.

In order to setup that parameter we need to run a I/O Calibration, which in turns requests Asynchronous I/O to be enabled.

All our data files reside in local physical volumes (no logical volumes to be managed via LVM) in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 x86_64, having as file system type ext4. All Oracle release is 11.2.0.3 and we cannot upgrade it to 11.2.0.4.

Before changing the initialization parameter FILESYSTEMIO_OPTIONS to SETALL and bounce the instance, I would like to be absolutely sure that Linux kernel wise we have all the recommendations and configurations in place.

Howdy, Stranger!
