Can you update data using adhoc Smartview forms?

We recently upgraded to PBCS.

I am now trying to get used to Smart View because the old Excel add-in no longer works with PBCS.

To my surprise, I noticed that when I try to update data using an ad-hoc form I made using Excel and Smart View, I cannot update the data on a BSO cube.

However, if I recreate the same form on the browser, I can update the same intersection. The changes stick.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced this and knows of a trick so that I can continue to use Excel directly instead of having to design and recreate my templates on the browser.
