Assigning Parent to Asset Taking a Long Time

Just curious if anyone had run in to this before.

Running 12.2.5

When assigning a parent to certain assets, either through self-service configuration history or via Forms, it is taking a long time (10+ min and longer) to the point the system eventually times out. Other times, it is instantaneous. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for an asset to take a long time and another one not.

Anyone know what may be causing this? Anyone know what is actually being done in the system when the save/apply button is pressed to assign a parent (i.e. genealogy validation or something)?
