Executing jar files without using java -jar

Hi all,

We have some jar file we would like to run in a script without using java -jar.  We are able to perform this successfully on some servers but are not able to on other servers.  We have set the environment variables the same on all the systems but some work and others still won't work.  Any help would be appreciated.  We're on solaris 11.3.
