Financial Reports After Purge

We are in the process of executing a purge of our GL, AP, and AR records in the PY environment.  I purged the first year (which is only GL records) and then ran an income statement for that year.  It came out blank.  Does anyone know if this is the expected result or did something go wrong in our process?
