Hello all,

We have Exadata X6 where we needed to replace one CPU. After CPU replacement, following is behavior I noticed.

After replacing ONE CPU in exadata db nodes, we noticed below:

1. When server is up we notice all 88 counts of cpu

2. Briefly after that it disable few cores

3. In /var/log/messages files we notice following messages

Nov 23 00:05:21 dbnoded04 dbms: resourcecontrol:DBMS is updating the number of active cores per socket.

.....

Nov 23 00:05:21 dbnoded04 kernel: CPU 17 is now offline

......

Nov 23 00:05:21 dbnoded04 kernel: CPU 39 is now offline

It shounds like as soon as dbserverd process start, dbms kicks in with resourcecontrol and it shutdown few processors.

Howdy, Stranger!
