HTML Media Objects and MS Office Documents

We have been using JDE E1 since 2000. We are currently on JDE E1 TS 9.1.3.1.

We use media objects extensively in Procurement and also in Sales. Currently, we use the ActiveX controls to attach OLE (MS Office or PDF) and other documents so that they can be viewed in the media objects viewer.

Since IE is becoming an unsupported browser by Microsoft and ActiveX controls are security holes, we are looking at another solution so that we can use any browser to attach and view media objects.

We attempted converting from ActiveX to HTML in our TEST environment, but this proved to be a dead end as some documents can be attached, but not viewed unless they are downloaded and opened in the desktop application (Word, Excel, PDF). Also, users are accustomed to using Excel for imports and this forces them to do CSV imports. While I like the CSV imports, they being faster, many users do not because it causes confusion with the extra steps and precautions necessary.

Howdy, Stranger!
