Program Enrollment - "Required for Approval"

Hi,

Can anybody tell me that what is the use of field "Required for approval' in PeopleSoft Program enrollment.

In People book it is written that it will be future in use, then what will be the usage of this field and also what is tentative timeline for having this field in system.
