AS part of EBS 12.2 installation, when it is required to apply latest Database patches, in preparation as indicated on document 1594274.1 I follow the link specified by text

  • Oracle strongly recommends that you always use the latest version of the opatch utility, available from My Oracle Support via Patch 6880880.

When executing; java -jar <PATCH_HOME>/6880880/opatch_generic.jar -silent oracle_home=ORACLE_HOME

Launcher log file is /tmp/OraInstall2016-11-29_06-05-33PM/launcher2016-11-29_06-05-33PM.log.

Extracting the installer . . . . Done

This installer must be executed using a Java Development Kit (JDK)

but <ORACLE_BASE>/12.1.0/appsutil/jre is not a valid JDK Java Home.
